Thanks to Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin for Global Youth Forum – Tribute
Our life is a never ending exam. If you’ve ever given exam and scored low or highest or failed, that’s it? You never given exam again? This is the first lesson taught by my Dad when I was young and very nervous and demoralize after bad result. He said, “Son, you’re not born to compare your life with others, regret and give your everything for becoming better than others. It’s your life, you’ve your own taste, which defines you who you are. You’ve to make your own choices, you’ve to live your life fullest with your own desires and dreams. I’ll never ask you why failed but I’ll ask you why never tried.” And since then, I’m chose to become entrepreneur because I was always wanted to change the World. That green flag by dad change my life.
I’ve met several inspiring people in my life and each of them have changed a bit or you can say, I learned and implemented in my life. Don’t worry, I’m here to share my journey and learning of life but now I’m skipping some past story because I’ve to say give tribute and say,”Thank you Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin for Global Youth Forum.”
On 26th June 2011, we started a student network and named it Green Youth Generation. Suddenly, students from several schools joined us and we were appreciated internationally. In 2012, I woke up and read and email with subject ‘Letter to Mr. Balraj re Global Youth Forum at Bali from 4 – 6 December 2012’. And that was most valuable email ever received. See below –
I replied whether it’s spam or real and then contacted UNFPA to confirm this. Once it confirmed I shouted and it does changed my life. I went to Bali, Indonesia where more than 900 delegates were invited from all over the world which has never happened before or again.
In three days, I listened to eminent speakers and young leaders from around the globe. I raised my voice and my voice was heard and supported by the forum. In the end, we came up with sixteen pages of resolution that was sent to United Nations, HQ. I’ll share three days story later in continuation of story of my journey from local to global.
I thanks to Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin and UNFPA for creating this opportunity that has given me a vision of bringing youth in the heart of development. If it would not be at UNFPA the probably, I would not by writing and sharing this to the World.
